This is an easy walk affording views out of all proportion with the ease of the walk.

The walk starts behind Balquhidder church and initially follows the track signed to Kirkton Glen. Right turn behind the church and over a stile to climb up a rather steep wpe10.jpg (14124 bytes)track through the woods to the end of the woods.

Shortly after the woods, the track forks near some enclosed buildings where you take the right fork. After about 400M a sign on the right  points to a narrow path leading through a dike and onwards to the summit where you'll find a cairn to the memory of the clan McLaren. The view to the west now is stunning with the whole of Balquhidder Glen exposed beyond Loch Voil and little Loch Doine.

Rob Roy's first married home ( Monachyle Taurach ) is on the south shore at the narrows between the two lochs. The only real option now is to return by the same path although you can follow an ill defined path to the east which leads to a point further east on the forest road.
