Piper for weddings, piper for Burns suppers, piper for
funerals - bagpiper for all social occasions; that's Jim Brown.
Pipe major Jim Brown has played the pipes almost since he could walk. He was in the Royal
Scots during his army service during which time he played at all types of social and
ceremonial events. Now retired from the army, his love of, and expertise on the pipes
continues and he enjoys many a 'gathering' with friends from the world of pipes and pipe
music.
Piper for hire!
Jim now offers his services as a piper to those wishing to have bagpipe music at social,
ceremonial, regimental and special occasion events such as:
- Weddings
- Funerals
- Memorial services
- Burns suppers

- St Andrews night suppers
- Barmitzvahs
- Gala days
- Fetes, etc.

Distance is not a great problem, and Jim is prepared to travel any reasonable distance
to help make that occasion a memorable one.
As an experienced piper, Jim is aware of the need to be able to
'dress for the occasion'. To this end he has three uniforms available:
- Full highland dress
- Kilt Jacket, matching waistcoat with Glengarry
- Kilt and ghillie jacket with waistbelt and ghillie brogues

- Pipe Major's qualification , Edinburgh Castle School of piping.
- Pipe Major 52nd Lowland Brigade 15 years
- Muirhead and Son Pipes and Drums
- British Caledonian Airways Pipe Band, Toyota Pipes and Drums

- At present - Pipe Major of Gleneagles & Strathearn Pipes and Drums
For someone really special
Jim is also a composer of pipe music and has written music for special occasions.
An example is 'The Durinish
Stone' which was written to commemorate the raising of the stone as part of
the millenium celebrations.
For that really special person or occasion, Jim will compose a unique pipe tune.
Creation of new pipe music is very specialised and is quite expensive, but someone may
be worth it.
